Feedback rating is very important! Buyers take it very seriously and it is the only trust factor the buyers have. People often hesitate when bidding on items of sellers who does not have good feedback. Higher the feedback, more buyers are going to trust you. Also, this will result in more bids and higher auction ending prices. You can access your feedback from your profile.
After selling an item, wait until the buyer leaves you a positive feedback. And then also leave a positive feedback for them. It works best that way. Being overly enthusiastic or nice is not a bad thing as a seller; it definitely works for customer service.
Responding to Negative Feedbacks
You might be very mad and very angry. If you are, it is better to take a day off or so to calm yourself down, so you do not make a regretful mistake because of the temper. But think about this first: Was it your fault, or not? Try to think in the buyer's position and look at the situation. If you did deserve it, you will not be able to do anything about it, because you have no reason to fight with. But it does not hurt to ask the buyer how you can fix the problem and get the feedback withdrawn. If it was not your fault, it is not fair for you and you have a right to get up and fix the problem. Talk to the buyer; still BE POLITE. Getting mad at the buyer will not do anything for you. Be professional. When you have to leave a response to a negative feedback, do not leave impolite or rude comments. You can leave something like, "Will refund, my mistake of sending a different item".
Withdrawing Feedbacks
There are always the unfair feedbacks. Many sellers have gotten unreasonable negative feedbacks from buyers. The sellers might not have deserved it, but it happens. There is a way to retract feedback, but it has to be negotiated with the buyer. For example, say that the buyer left you a negative feedback, so you left the buyer a negative feedback in return. After negotiating, you and the buyer decided to retract the negative feedbacks both of you and the buyer have. This is called Mutual Feedback Withdrawal. When they are removed, it does not show as positive, negative or neutral. The comment will be still there, but it just does not count in the feedback score, which is basically the most important factor. Be careful, because you can only withdraw the feedbacks within 30 days of either member leaving Feedback, or within 90 days of the transaction end date, whichever is later.
They have recently changed their feedback system: You can check it out HERE:

I will post more on this later.
Negative feedbacks aren't the end of the world. You can start building yourself up, and any sellers get negative feedbacks now and then. Learn to be careful next time with your mistakes.

Free eBay Seller Tools
A lot of eBay seller tools come in handy when you don't want to pay extra money to put up more pictures, or want to make your listings stand out more. They are not only good for reducing your eBay fees, but also makes selling easier to do. Here is the list of websites with free eBay seller tools.
Auctiva:
http://www.auctiva.com
Auctiva is very simple to use, and that is what I like about it. It is an online auction software that includes free image hosting, free templates, free scheduling, free scrolling gallery and many more features. It makes everything easy to manage, such as eBay profiles, feedback, and listings; it basically simplifies the selling process from beginning to end.
ChannelMax:
http://www.channelmax.net/
ChanelMax is pretty similar to other seller tools, even though it might be intimidating at first. It does not look as clean as other ones, but it is definitely a powerful tool. It can help you create your own "storefront", and it also can control inventory and monitor listings. They do charge you for few things but they are additional and you probably don't have to pay for the things you really need. Even if you need them, they are very reasonably priced.

AuctionSplash:
http://www.auctionsplash.com/
This program is quite similar to auction, except that it is a Windows based software that you need to download. AuctionSplash shows pop-up notifications reminding you when bid has been placed, when outbid, or when auction is about to close. There are many templates you can use to list your item, and picture hosting is free. It even prints shipping labels and it has many other features such as automatic feedback.

Let Other People's Typos Save You Money
Save money out of people's typos! Many product listings have spelling mistakes, and they often go expired with no or only few bids. There are many items listed on auction sites such as eBay that sells for much less than what they are realy worth because sellers don't check their listing's speling posting. So here is another tip for sellers: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SPELLING!
For buyers, you will be able to find many great items you are looking for without having so many competitors, for a great price. There are many sites that help you search typos, including ones below.

How to Start Out Making Money on eBay
Making money on eBay is definitely not hard at all. You might ask, how can you make so much money from working at home? It is definitely possible. Selling on eBay can be your full time job, or even simply be a hobby. All you need is a positive attitude to start with. Set realistic goals when starting out.
If you have not already registered an eBay account, do so now. Try looking around the website to see what kinds of things are on sale. After hanging around a bit, you will find that eBay practically has everything, from toilet paper to a computer. Try to get an idea of what you want to sell. Usually, things that are cheaper, or/and things that are not as common sells the best. You can start with anything; you will be able to find at least few things in your house that you can put on sale. In fact, a recent eBay/Nielson survey discovered that the average U.S. household has 52 unused items around the house originally worth $3,100. That means almost everyone can find something in their house to generate additional income!
Try to keep your costs lower at first. More people are going to be attracted to your items, and therefore will give you more feedbacks. Feedback is extremely important when starting out, and it is one of the trust factors buyers use. And do NOT try to make money on shipping. Be honest and don't make your shipping price ridiculously high. For instance, what if a customer found out that the shipping was only $6 while you charged her $16 for it? Again, reputation is extremely important on eBay and you should be very careful.
When listing items, title can be very important. Many people put things such as "beautiful" and "awesome" on the title, but it's better to list out facts such as sizes, brand names, or colours. Buyers do not search "awesome bag" or "beautiful hat". If there's space left over after putting all the important facts, that's when I'd say it is okay to put those words.
If you are selling a high-ticket item, it might also be a good idea to use extra dollars to buy eye-catching features such as border around the title (US $3.00), bold (US $1.00), and Gallery Featured (US $19.95). They definitely help catching people's eyes.
If you know the general rules and hang around on eBay for a while, you will get an idea of how it works. Have fun eBaying!
